Riesling originated in the Rhine region of Germany. It comes in a wide variety of styles, from bone dry to decadently sweet. It is a versatile wine for pairing with food, because of its balance of sugar and acidity. It can be paired with white fish or pork, and is one of the few wines that can stand up to stronger flavors and spices. A Riesling’s typical aromas are of flowers, tropical fruits, and mineral stone (such as slate or quartz).
Our Riesling is definitely on the drier side, but since it is well balanced it does not come across as bone dry. My favourite pairing is a nice cold glass with barbecued chicken, lots of emphasis on the BBQ sauce. Enjoy it with chicken, old cheeses and white fish.
