Port wine

A bit about Port: Port (also known as Vinho do Porto or simply Porto) is traditionally a Portuguese fortified wine. It is typically sweet, red and often served as a dessert wine though it also comes in dry, semi-dry, and white varieties. Today, fortified wines in the style of port are produced around the world.

Our Port takes us between 18 and 24 months to produce, prior to another 12 to 24 months in the bottle. It goes through a very slow ferment, by feeding the yeast small amounts of sugar over this initial 24 month period. In the summer our Port sits out on the crush pad in the sun, in the winter it is (no joke) wrapped in heating blankets in the winery. When it is done, we add a small amount of wine alcohol, produced from BC grapes for us here locally, then bottle it and let it age further in the bottle. A consistent Medal Winner, this Port won a Gold Medal at the 2011 All Canada Wine Competition.
